Free Meals and Goodies for Veterans/Troops on Veteran’s Day
Every year, several companies offer free meals and other things for Veterans and those currently enlisted on Veteran’s Day. This year, Veteran’s day falls on 11/11/11, and there’s already been some announcements as to who is offering things.
If you have any more information on other offerings, please let us know so we can keep this list up-to-date as much as possible.
Most offers require proof of veteran/enlisted status, which can be in the form of a Military ID, DD214, etc.
Meals:
Applebees:
For the past 3 years, Applebees has been honoring service men and women with a free meal on Veteran’s Day. Last year alone, they offered 1,024,000 meals, and want to beat that number this year. This year, the meal will be on 11/11/11.
The options from their signature entrees are :
- 7 oz. House Sirloin
- Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger
- Three Cheese Chicken Penne
- Chicken Tenders Platter
- Oriental Chicken Salad
- Fiesta Lime Chicken®
- Double Crunch Shrimp
You will need to provide proof of enlistement/veteran status, which can be one of the following : U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.
This is good for dine-in only and any drinks, appetizers, additional items cost extra. You do get traditional sides with the meal. Contact your local Applebees for more information.
Golden Corral:
In 2010, Golden Corral raised over $1 million to help disabled American Veterans. This year, they’re working to do the same. On Monday, November 14, 2011, Golden Corral will offer a free meal to Veteran’s. Additional guests must pay extra for their meal.

Hooters – Free Meal w/ drink purchase
Krispy Kreme – Free Doughnut
Olive Garden – Free entree
Outback Steakhouse – Free Bloomin’ Onion and Coca Cola
Subway – Select locations offering a free 6 inch sub
TGI Fridays – BOGO meal offer
Things to do:
Veteran’s and active duty men and women and their families can get into National Parks several times a year for no charge. Veteran’s Day is the last day of the year for free admission! Free Items:
Sam’s Club and Hugo canes offer a free Hugo cane for veteran’s needing mobility assistance. This year, on November 9-11th, Veteran’s can visit a local Sam’s Club and get a free Hugo cane. Membership is NOT required to get a cane, but proof of military service may be required. While supplies last. Click here for more information.
