I’m not sure if oranges are the official fruit of summer, but they should be. I remember eating them at school or after school on a hot day. Plus they are an inexpensive and healthy snack to have!
Did you know that ‘Green is Good’ when it comes to Sunkist Valencia Oranges. Apparently there is a process that can happen in warm weather where they “re-green”. This causes the outside, usually near the stem, to be a bit green, however it doesn’t affect the taste at all! You can get all of the information from this Sunkist Valencia Oranges Re-greening Video.
Sunkist has a fun recipe you can make including their Sunkist Valencia Oranges.
You will need:
3 Sunkist Valencia oranges, segmented and zested
20 cherry tomatoes, halved
1 lb. tub Bocconcini mozarella
¼ cup Opal (purple) basil, shredded into small pieces
20 whole wheat crackers
Salt to taste
¼ cup fresh rosemary
¼ cup fresh thyme
1/8 cup fresh oregano
1 ½ cups extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp. black pepper
Instructions:
Cut the Bocconcini into halves.
Zest the Valencia oranges using a micro plane or fine grater and set aside. To segment the oranges, cut off the top and bottom.
Lay the orange on a flat surface, using a pairing knife remove the skin and white pith. Carefully cut and release each segment from between the membranes and set aside.
In a blender, add the olive oil, orange zest and fresh herbs. Pulse until blended, continue to blend on medium speed until the herbs and zest are finely chopped, add the pepper and pulse quickly. Pour into a jar or plastic container. Leftover oil can be kept refrigerated for up to one month and used as a marinade for fish, poultry or vegetables.
Toss the orange segments, cherry tomatoes, Bocconcini and basil lightly with ¾ cup of orange scented herb oil and season with salt.
Serve by topping each cracker with the mixture and serve. This should make about 10 servings.

I call this one a scam because they posted an offer and end date. It was shared on sites like mine, then today they blame us for their supply running out… instead of THANKING us. Isn’t that the whole point of free samples?

For one, I don’t need consent. They posted a free promotion on Facebook. The main point of doing that on FACEBOOK is to get new fans etc. Second, I posted the details exactly from what their deal page had. I can not and do not promote businesses that blame others for their shortcomings. If they cannot offer all the samples, then say so. Don’t go blaming sites like mine and others for sending you thousands of new fans and sample requests.
This one is a little more work than just filling out your information, but definitely should be worth it.
