I’ve been racking my brain for a while now about how to get a successful as well as fair “referral” promotion. I am obsessed with stats and growth, as well as rewarding our awesome Facebook fans that make it possible.

I think I have finally come up with a system that can work. This is another test run, but I think it will work out. Not only will we be rewarding EXISTING fans, but also those who are NEW and those who REFER people to us!

For our January 2011 referral contest I will be giving away 2 iPod Shuffles. If this goes well I will do more/bigger prizes for February!

Here are the ‘rules’ the best I can explain them.

January Referral Contest

Two lucky Facebook fans will receive an iPod shuffle (your color choice!)

Each Facebook fan can comment below and state they are a fan.

If you are a NEW fan you comment that you are a new fan and state the name of the person who referred you.

So basically existing fans can enter once stating they are a fan and new fans can enter once by stating they are a new fan and the name of person who referred them.

This way each new fan you refer will get you an entry. So you will get one entry for being a fan, and essentially one entry for each person you refer.

I will randomly pick the winners. If the winner is an existing member I will award them the prize and select one more random person. If I pick a NEW member the new member and the person who referred them WINS!

I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist, however the stories always intrigue me. There was mention of one on Pawn Stars regarding the Charles Lindbergh JR kidnapping. I had never heard the story, but I was interested. (Yes I am a reality show junky) It’s made me want to research them a bit more…

Then there are the ones about brain washing, hidden messages, and backwards masking.

Back masking (also known as backward masking) is a recording technique in which a sound or message is recorded backward on to a track that is meant to be played forward. Back masking is a deliberate process, whereas a message found through phonetic reversal may be unintentional. (source wikipedia)

Kind of like rock music was supposed to sound like the devil when played backwards. (My favorite for is the spoof on That 70’s Show)

SuperBowl commercials have almost become as popular as the SuperBowl. Hyundai is doing an interesting campaign basing it on the ‘conspiracy’ that people have been brainwashed and given hidden messages about compact cars.
