Tobox Digital Air Fryer only $63 Shipped

I remember when air fryers first hit the market and they cost a few $100. My mom saw them on an infomercial and wanted one. While some still cost that much you can get a great unit for a lot less.

I was recently sent a Tobox digital air fryer to test out and I love it! I easily cook at least 50% or more of my at home meals with it. With certain meals all you have to do is set the timer, insert the food, and wait for the beep.

Air Fried Food

If you aren’t familiar with an air fryer they are a newer product that basically allows you to fry items with little or no oil. You still get the crisp to it just less oil/grease.

I had to look it up on wikipedia so I could explain it to friends. “An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food using the convection mechanism. A mechanical fan circulates the hot air around the food at high speed, cooking the food and producing a crispy layer”

Some of the food I cook like chicken thighs I don’t add ANY oil at all and it gets nice and crispy. Other items like potatoes, vegetables, and proteins need 70-80% less oil than a traditional deep fryer.

Tobox Digital 3.8 Qrt Air Fryer

I have been using my Tobox air fryer nearly every day with different food. Some are for dinner and some just for fun! I had a jar of pickles and wanted to bread them and try them out one day so I did.

The Tobox air fryer itself is very easy to use. After a simple cleaning (like all new appliances you would receive) you are pretty much ready to go. Plug and play! It comes with a basic instruction manual and recipe guide. You can always google “air fryer recipes” and come up with a ton of stuff to try.

Overall I am very happy with my unit and have been talking about it to friends all the time. One thing I will suggest is not to use the tongs that come with it. Rubber or silicone will be better. The other is that the basket handle seems to go loose after a few uses so I tightened it with a screwdriver.

My favorite protein to cook is easily chicken. Put some wings in or chicken drumsticks/breasts and they come out perfect just by cooking it by the chicken setting and time loaded on the fryer.

I did get ambitious and made fish tacos (catfish) with just a basic coating. Egg, flour and cooked it at 400 for a few minutes each side.

Bringing Cold Fries and Tots Back to Life

I am all about saving money (obviously) so I hate throwing out fast food/restaurant fries or tater tots after they have gone cold and soggy. I tried an experiment to bring some back to life and they worked! Give it a try.

Take your cold fries or tots and add a small amount of oil to them. Preheat your air fryer to 400 and when you are ready add them to your fryer. I would check every minute or two and shake the basket. Both times I tried they came out great, I just had to re-season them a bit!

It’s All Free Online Easy Leftover Mashed Potato Ball Air Fryer Recipe

I didn’t know what to call it, but it works right? I love utilizing my leftovers to make another meal so it doesn’t go to waste. It saves a lot of money, plus it’s fun using the air fryer!

It’s really easy and definitely a kid friendly recipe. I had my son help me with these. Here is what you will need:

  • Leftover cold mashed potatoes
  • Egg
  • Breadcrumbs (any)
  • Cheese (if you’d like)

That’s it!

Simply roll your mashed potatoes into like size balls. Obviously the bigger you make them the longer they will need to be cooked. Dip them in your egg and roll in your breadcrumbs.

I would suggest putting the air fryer on 400 and checking every few minutes shaking the basket until the desired crispiness.

If you are using cheese you can either cut it in cubes and put in the center of your mashed potato balls or shred them and add them on top. Either way it comes out delicious!
